In June 2015, the Formosa Waterpark Explosion took lives and injured many people. I collaborated with the Sunshine Foundation and illustrated 6 postcards with a positive message to send as gifts to victims of the explosion.
WHY?
The Formosa Waterpark Explosion happened in summer, and by December, the media coverage of the incident has declined. The victims were just beginning their long and painful journey of rehabilitation. It was near Christmas, and I wanted to send them a gift to encourage them, reminding them that they are not alone.

The 3 steps of how the sale works

Postcard Design
To make the postcards more heartfelt, I used a pigment liner pen and watercolor pencils for the illustrations and added a handwritten message with a fountain pen.

“Here to ‘pump’ you up.” a play on words on “pump” and “encouraging” in Mandarin

“He’s just a cub, but smiling makes him full feel powerful.”

You’re not alone in reaching the stars

The hug that is lifesaving

“Your cast is your armor, for you are a warrior. You’re hurt, but you stand up tall to face the dragon. You are fearless. ”

When there’s rain, there might be rainbows.
